I am a South African writer based in New York, with a background in journalism and wide-ranging experience as an editor and researcher. I have written for New York Magazine, TIME Inc., The Sunday Times South Africa, The Los Angeles Review of Books, Guernica, Africa Is A Country, and others.
I am currently pursuing a PhD in comparative literature at New York University, with a focus on contemporary fiction and journalism from Southern Africa, and the ethical and material effects of language and its circulation among different publics. I am a recipient of the Alpine Fellowship for cross-disciplinary scholarship of the contemporary age.
